Despite careful modernisation, she retains the aura of an old Atlantic liner — lovingly restored to her former splendour with gleaming brass, classic wooden interiors, and her original artworks.

As the oldest remaining and one of the most beautiful and best-preserved ships in Norwegian Hurtigruten’s history
she is under national heritage protection — a living piece of maritime history that continues to inspire all who sail with her.
 


Svalbard

MS Sjoveien was originally built for the Norwegian Government and served in various capacities for many years. In recent years, she has been beautifully converted into an explorer yacht, combining classic Norwegian craftsmanship with modern features.

Since 2017, she has ventured into the pristine Arctic wilderness of Svalbard, showcasing untouched landscapes and unique wildlife.

Ships like Sjoveien are instantly recognizable along the Norwegian coast — standing out gracefully among passenger vessels in port or at anchor. Their timeless elegance and proud silhouettes create breathtaking scenes that capture the spirit of Norway’s maritime heritage.
